Living wage
Social Value and Design of the Built Environment, published by the Supply Chain Sustainability School in 2017, suggests that there are two types of Living wage:
- ‘The Living Wage Foundation’s ‘real Living Wage’ which is independently-calculated each year based on what employees and their families need to live. Employers choose to pay the real Living Wage on a voluntary basis.’
- ‘A wage that the UK government introduced in April 2016 – referring to it as a ‘national living wage’ - is the minimum legal wage that must be paid to a person over 25 years of age.’
